Terms of Service

• You must be at least 16 years old, and generally a current college or university student with a Canvas account.
• You must use your own Canvas credentials — the Chrome extension reads Canvas data only via your own logged-in session, never anyone else's.
• You're responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.

Syllavo syncs course data from Canvas (assignments, grades, files, announcements) via a Chrome extension, and generates study tools — flashcards, quizzes, summaries, grade simulations, deadline tracking, and an AI study assistant — from that data using third-party AI models (OpenAI and Anthropic).

• Flashcards, quizzes, summaries, exam predictions, grade simulations, and chat responses are generated by AI models and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies.
• Syllavo is a study aid, not a substitute for your course materials, your instructor's guidance, or your own judgment. Always verify AI-generated content against your actual syllabus, assignments, and instructor communications before relying on it for grades, deadlines, or exam prep.
• We are not responsible for academic outcomes, missed deadlines, or grade discrepancies resulting from reliance on AI-generated content.

You agree not to:

• Use Syllavo to access Canvas data you are not personally authorized to access.
• Use Syllavo to violate your institution's academic integrity policy — Syllavo is a study and organization tool, not a means to complete graded work on your behalf in violation of your school's rules.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload our systems, or exceed reasonable use of the Canvas API rate limits the extension respects.
• Share your account, or use the service to harass, spam, or distribute unlawful content via the study group or note-sharing features.
• Upload content you don't have the right to share (e.g. copyrighted materials beyond your own coursework use).

You retain ownership of the notes, recordings, and other content you create in Syllavo. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit that content (including to our AI subprocessors) solely to provide the features you use. We don't claim ownership of your content and don't use it to train third-party foundation models beyond the single request needed to generate your output.

• Syllavo is currently free to use. There are no paid plans or subscriptions at this time, and we do not collect payment information.
• If we introduce paid features in the future, we'll show you the price and terms before you're charged and update these Terms accordingly. We won't start charging an existing free account without your explicit consent.

• You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Privacy & data. This permanently and immediately deletes your account and associated content.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, including misuse of Canvas access or attempts to abuse the AI features.

Syllavo is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Syllavo is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including academic or financial outcomes arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
