Support
Everything below is self-serve. If it does not solve your problem, one email reaches a person.
Contact us
Email syllavohelp@gmail.com and describe what happened. There is no ticket portal and no chatbot — the address goes to the people who build Syllavo.
We aim to reply within two business days. Privacy and data requests are answered within 30 days, as required by GDPR.
Including these three things gets you a useful answer on the first reply: the email address on your Syllavo account, the browser and operating system you are using, and what you expected to happen versus what actually happened.
Installing the extension
Syllavo needs the Chrome extension to read your Canvas data. Without it, the web app has nothing to work from.
- 1Open Syllavo in desktop Chrome (or another Chromium browser such as Edge, Brave or Arc) and install the Syllavo extension from the Chrome Web Store. Create your Syllavo account first — the extension needs an account to sync into.
- 2Pin it: click the puzzle-piece icon in the Chrome toolbar, then the pin next to Syllavo. The toolbar icon is how you connect, sync and record.
- 3Click the Syllavo icon. The popup shows Connect your account.
The icon is missing. Chrome hides new extensions behind the puzzle-piece menu until you pin them. If it is not in that menu either, the install did not finish — reinstall and watch for the Chrome confirmation dialog.
The extension is disabled after a browser update. Open chrome://extensions and check that Syllavo is toggled on.
Connecting Canvas
Syllavo never asks for your Canvas password. The extension runs inside your Canvas tab and uses the session you are already signed in to, which is why the connection has to be made from the browser where you use Canvas.
- 1Sign in to Canvas normally, in the same browser, so the session is live.
- 2Click the Syllavo toolbar icon and choose Connect account. A Syllavo tab opens and asks you to sign in to Syllavo (not Canvas).
- 3Wait for Connected — you can close this tab. If the handshake fails, the page says so and offers Retry; it will not claim success it cannot confirm.
- 4Reopen the popup. It shows Connected with a Sync now button. Run the first sync from there.
A course is missing after a sync. Syllavo only sees courses that are published and that your Canvas account can already open. Unpublished courses, concluded terms, and courses you are only an observer on are invisible to it. Open the course in Canvas first, then sync again.
The popup says you are not connected. Your Canvas session most likely expired. Sign in to Canvas again, then click Sync now. If it still fails, disconnect and repeat the connect flow above.
Using Syllavo on a phone
The setup has to happen on a computer. Studying does not.
Chrome on iOS and Android does not support extensions at all — this is a limitation Google places on mobile Chrome, not a feature we left out. Since the extension is the only thing that can read your Canvas session, the install and the first Canvas sync can only be done in desktop Chrome.
On a computer, once
Install the extension, connect your account, run the first sync. Five minutes, and you never have to repeat it unless you sign out.
On your phone, always
Open Syllavo in your phone browser and sign in with the same account. Flashcards, quizzes, summaries and your deadlines are all there. You can add it to your home screen and it behaves like an app.
If you landed here from a link on your phone, the practical move is to email yourself the link and finish the setup at a desk later. Nothing is lost by waiting.
Deleting your data
You do not need to ask us. Both routes below are yours to run, and deletion is immediate and irreversible — there is no 30-day grace period and no recovery.
- Delete your account and everything in it: sign in, open Settings → Privacy & data, and choose to permanently delete your account. Notes, decks, quizzes, grades, materials and recordings go with it.
- Take your data with you first: the same screen offers a full JSON export of everything stored about you. Export before you delete — afterwards there is nothing left to export.
- Signed up with Google, or cannot sign in? Deleting from Settings asks you to confirm your password, and an account created with Google sign-in does not have one. Email syllavohelp@gmail.com from the address on the account and we will delete it for you.
Removing the extension stops all future syncing but does not delete anything already stored. Use the account deletion above for that. What each of your rights covers is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Account and sign-in problems
Forgotten password. Syllavo does not have a self-serve password reset yet. Email syllavohelp@gmail.com from the address on the account and we will help you back in.
You signed up with Google and cannot sign in with a password. That is expected — an account created with Google sign-in has no password. Keep using Continue with Google.
Something is broken. Tell us at syllavohelp@gmail.com. A screenshot and the time it happened are usually enough for us to find it in the logs.
